Ages 7-10, 5:30 - 6:20pm
In a drama class for ages 7-10, students begin with physical and vocal warm-ups to prepare their bodies and voices. They engage in drama games like “Kitty wants a Corner”, and mirror exercises to enhance focus and coordination. The class then moves on to improvised scenes, allowing students to explore character and theme development. Group, in class performances and positive feedback sessions build individual confidence, and trust exercises foster collaboration. Discussions about theater history and small prop/costume projects deepen students’ appreciation for the arts, creating a well-rounded and enriching experience.
Ages 11-13, 6:30 – 7:20

The class then moves on to improvised scenes and scripted scenes, allowing students to explore character and theme development. Discussions about theater history and small prop/costume projects deepen students’ appreciation for the arts, creating a well-rounded and enriching experience.
Ages 14-17, 7:30 – 8:20
In a dynamic drama class for children aged 14-17 years, students begin with physical and vocal warm-ups to prepare their bodies and voices. They engage in drama games like “Zip Zap Zop” and mirror exercises to enhance focus and coordination. The class then moves on to small scenes, both improvised and scripted, allowing students to explore character development and dialogue delivery. Solo/Group performances and positive feedback sessions build individual confidence, while group projects and trust exercises foster collaboration. Discussions about theater history and guest speakers from the arts community deepen students’ appreciation for the arts, creating a well-rounded and enriching experience.
Luminary Theatre Company is dedicated to providing career support and training to the theatre artists living in central Virginia. Through our year-long, paid internship program we take aspiring Stage Managers and Directors and pair them with professionals to gain the valuable skills they need to get to the next level.
