Audition announcement

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

Luminary Theatre Company is holding auditions for our inaugural production of A Christmas Carol, or the Marvelous Reclamation of Ebenezer Scrooge , a joy-filled adaptation set in modern-day Fredericksburg. This immersive production brings Charles Dickens’ classic tale into our contemporary world through theatrical storytelling, movement, puppetry, and an original book and score.

We are seeking a diverse cast of actors ages 15 and up for both principal and ensemble roles. One teenager may be cast in an ensemble role to play multiple characters including Tiny Tim; all other roles will be played by actors 18 and older . All ensemble members will play multiple characters and should be comfortable with quick transitions, group storytelling, physicality, and puppetry. (Training will be provided.)

AUDITION DATES & LOCATION

Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13
12:00 PM – 6:00 PM each day

  • Individual audition appointments will be scheduled in 10-minute slots

  • All auditioners are required to attend one Movement Call on their audition day:
    • 2:00–3:00 PM for morning auditioners
    • 5:00–6:00 PM for afternoon auditioners

Auditions will be held at:
Studio M Dance Project
4276B Plank Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407

***Please note: the studio is located around the back of the building. Do not enter through the front or go into the hobby store. You must drive around to the back.***

Callbacks & Casting Timeline
Callbacks will be held on an as-needed basis on Saturday, July 19 at 1:00 PM. If you are called back, you will be notified by Monday, July 14 and provided with details about when and where to report, and what to prepare.

Not all actors will be called back, and being called back does not guarantee casting, just as not being called back does not mean you are no longer under consideration. The creative team will use callbacks to explore specific roles and combinations as needed.

Final casting decisions will be made shortly after callbacks, and all auditioners will be notified of their status by email.

SEEKING

  • Ebenezer Scrooge – 50+, male-presenting. Rigid, commanding, emotionally guarded. This is the iconic Scrooge we all know, with added wit and humor. Must be a strong singer and actor.
